Conventional forms of partnership at law firms: O. Polivodskyy tells about how to choose right partnership model

There comes a time for every private lawyer to face a strategic issue of partnership in his professional development. Choosing the most convenient form of organisation of relations and the right model is essential for future success of a legal service business.

Sofiya Law Firm partner Mr Oleksandr Polivodskyy has looked into the forms and types of partnership and the organisational forms of law firms during a lecture he delivered as part of the Leadership in Law course running this week in Kyiv.

According to the expert, a conscious and adult approach helps to answer a number of questions: What is the legal service market? Who am I as a market player and how do I enter in it? What does partnership mean to me? Who am I as a partner and what do I expect from partnership?

'In my opinion, a level playing partnership involving cooperation to achieve common goals proves to be the most effective in the legal service business,' Mr Polivodskyy points out. 'It covers common values and vision of a development strategy, roughly the same levels of qualification and professional development phases, a need for clear separation of roles and functions, various areas of expertise and responsibility to other partners.'

Oleksandr Polivodskyy mentioned the main risks for business from the introduction of the land market in Ukraine
The one of the main risks of the emergence of a land market in Ukraine for investors is legal uncertainty, which will arise if the Constitutional Court does not rule on the Law №552-IX by the 1st of July, 2021.
