Oleksandr Polivodskyy has shared with students rules of determining which rules of procedure (commercial, administrative, or civil) should apply

Sofiya Law Firm partner Oleksandr Polivodskyy appeared as an expert at a practical training session of the Shkola Prava (Law School) programme organized for talented law students by Vidkryta Ukraina, a public organisation.

A video of the event, dealing with practical matters of separation of court jurisdictions over the hearing of cases, has been recently released on the website of the Open Court Project.

‘Experienced professionals who happen to work with young lawyers often pass judgment on (and sometimes for good reason) classical approaches that our higher educational institutions use to foster legal experts. Therefore, the selected concept of the workshops and the training programme determined by the host have allowed for equalising, to some extent, the difference between the knowledge of the students and the current practice,’ Mr Polivodskyy has pointed out. ‘I therefore perceive my involvement in this educational project as a necessary component of corporate social responsibility for the development of a state governed by the rule of law.

The Open Court Project invites famous advocates, prosecutors, and judges to join practical trainings of the Shkola Prava programme and to teach the fundamentals of procedural law to, and to share their experience with, law students. The project aims to improve the concepts and techniques of legal education in Ukraine.
